No no no this time I've really got it

According to the folder on my computer called "posters", I have made 11 separate attempts at prints and posters, none of which have reached production. I think this blog reveals how much material the modern cartoonist throws away. Believe me when I say that I am not the worst person for this.

Anyway, I think this time I have really got it.

Maybe I am the worst person for throwing things away, actually. I'm pretty certain that that is the case. But if you are a computer-o-artist, you can recycle.

It's Fallon, right?

Is it Fallon?

Surely.

Any poster for me would be incomplete without some tag that indicated to The Average Prole on the Street the Scarygoroundedness of the artifact.

Anyway.

I've said too much already.

That's a pretty cool poster but I think it needs something more, somehow. Or maybe it's going for a more mysterious um, attitude.

..Last comic I was reading was the Beano when I was 10. There has been a big comic-less void in my life for 8 years until a friend of mine introduced me to your wondrous Scary Go Round.
Elvira is an awesome name...Elvira Aloe-Vera turns people into jelly babies with jellies. Muahaha.

Something more? Like what? A horse?

Oh well, I guess I will abandon this poster too. Rejection saves me a lot of money! It is however, a false economy.

Don't you dare!

I was just getting attached to it. It reminds me of what I thought Texas would look like before I moved here. I thought it was all brown and plantless.

Anyway, it doesn't need clutter. It's an inherently subtle thing, and tattooing it with brightly colored labels would be practically criminal.

Mmmm!
Lovely.
I like the colouring. It seems like the end of sunset, or perhaps the very beginning of sunrise.
I liked the Amy poster, but I like this even better. It feels much more like a stand alone piece that people who have never heard of scary go round will still appreciate.

hrmm, very nice. my favorite part is the bird. i would say it needs more texture, like maybe more grass or some other details. also it is ambiguous-is that shelly or fallon? i'm sure in depth analysis of noses and glasses shapes would reveal the truth, but maybe you should make her eyes the proper character color? however, i think i can safely say that this is one of my most favorite of any stand alone SGR illustrations i've seen, apart from the current tea towel. :)

Does it have to be a character?

Eventually you'll have enough rejected art to release a b-sides compilation, at least.

The poster's great, though I'd toss in a country-lookin' SGR logo in the bottom-left corner.

Oh man.

This print.

On my wall.

It is so bleak and yet she is so happy.

And the colours.

I'd buy it!

It's not rejection, I still like it! Just maybe it needs... I don't know. Otherwise I'd have said. A border? Yes. A border, to frame it.

A horse would make it seem unmysterious, unless it were flying in the sky. Then it would be downright weird.

This poster is what would happen if you and Carson McCullers were some sort of gestalt entity.

Sign me up for a copy.

I'm not going to change it, it is what it is! If you want your unsolicited ideas taken into account, please send me your diplomas and certificates (originals only, they will not be returned).

I don't put logos on anything (except two tshirts in 2001; sorry), not even my book collections, I really object to them. When someone has paid for something, they deserve to get it free of extraneous embellishments. I love R Stevens' tshirts but have you ever tried to iron around the Diesel Sweeties logo on the sleeve? And what's the deal with airline peanuts? Etc etc etc

PS I went to print shops today and also looked at tubes, things are hopeful.

But in the age of the Internet, everybody is an expert, and everybody has an opinion! You dont need to solicit advice to recieve it, you just need to share an idea.

I didn't say a logo... Just something, something...

*Feels Tim Jones style frustration*

*Misses Tim Jones*

*Loves the kids story though*

*Esther is getting way too cute*

I'm pretty sure they got rid of peanuts on airlines because of people's allergies.

A better question would be: what is Meatloaf referring to when he says he'll do anything for love but he won't do "that?"

Despite my fears of turning into a sodding fanboy I'd still buy that one...

...and I think Meatloaf's talking about sex before marriage. He's such a nice boy...

I love it, I love it! It is exactly right as it is and I must have it, soon.

I don't know who she is but she's wearing my beloved old glasses - small wonder she is happy.

Hell, I've seen people iron socks.

It's a strange world.

John A said...

People iron tshirts these days? Sure! I even hear that some crazy cats have taken to washing their hair more than once a week!

I even heard some dude decided to shave.
