In support of libraries

I believe passionately in libraries and have been horrified by the prospect of closures throughout the system as part of local government cuts. I tried to make a useful comic to help but it wound up being a bit... flawed?

This campaign has legs. No one likes being shushed in the supermarket!

I heartily agree with this comic. It's not because of blatant self bias at all... I'm training to be a librarian. These cuts will make finding a job once I graduate all the harder.
Also, Bran Flakes should be around 641 in Dewey.

Librarians may be grumpy, but they have also been paid to sush people for most of their lives. That's not somethin you can just turn on and off!

This is undeniable proof. The government will have to listen now. Someone should take it immediatly to Number 10.

I for one have never been shushed by a librarian, nor seen one in half-moon glasses with pencils holding up a hair bun. Well, maybe seen the latter, on like a 28 year old ironic librarian.

I am a librarian; it's been years since I shushed someone who wasn't being rude in a movie theater, though.

Maybe it's because I usually close my office door.

However, let me clarify that my snarky comments in no way indicate that I don't love this comic. I love it. It makes me feel special. Keep fighting the good fight for the benefit of the libraries in your communities!

Thanks for drawing this, and for your support of libraries! I would bet your readers are disproportionately librarian. I put it on my blog (accredited) here: http://abigailmwickes.web.unc.edu/cool-things-general-interest/john-allison-loves-libraries/
