My youth

The circle has been squared, you can now watch old Chart Show specialist charts on Youtube!

The dance chart October 1989. I'm delighted to say that based on the record at number two, I still knew after 18 years what the record at number one was.* We didn't have a VCR in 1989, but I still remember being very, very disappointed.

The Indie Chart of March 1990. Fugazi were obviously too scary for Saturday lunchtime network TV but it didn't matter as they didn't make videos due to principles, so we got a Lush promo clip instead!!!

I am feeling weak and giddy and must rest. ENJOY THE PAST.

Oh man, I forgot how bad the computer graphics were on that show. And the random fastforward thing where it'd skip the only video you wanted to see? Excellent feature.

It was followed afterwards by Movies, Games And Videos I think.

I knew you'd love these Maryjo! I must have watched ten of them today at least. Those bands seemed so mysterious when I was 13... who were Pavement and what exactly was "Trigger Cut plus two"? The Breeders, you say? "Safari"? Eh?

And some of the bands are seriously lost to time now.

Here's a great one with MBV and Spacemen 3

Stephen: I remember Movies Games and Videos! Prior to that, it used to be followed by Casey Kasem with America's Top 10. He appeared to be about 100 years old and wore a cardigan. In one episode I'm sure he brought his wife on.

I'm meant to be "working from home" today but think I can confidently predict little getting done.

For a similar trip down memory lane

Am I mistaken or is today's comic the first time SGR has used a super-cuss?

I don't think it's the first time, no; I remember Amy saying the dreaded f word after the Super Crisis story ended, in a fight with Ryan. I remember because it shocked me to my very blackened core.

Also, that store guy seems to be that Islands version of Ryan...
