Sorry for the lack of blog posts, but I've been working on the playing cards. Now I've made it to 47 (of 54), the psychological process of choosing really does reveal who I like drawing the least. Any fule can do an Amy or an Esther (I've done a few of both along the way), but nothing seems to be able to make my clawlike hands scrawl out a Bentley Quorn for posterity.
Here are a couple of previews (all final ratings for characters remain secret until you buy the set).

The other thing I realised along the way is that I don't remember some of the characters'
names. Things are pretty tragic in my brain.

So does the second Amy represent a change of mind for her card portrait?
Just curious; both are endearing in various ways. but I wonder what makes you say, "This is what I want," or at least, "This is where I will stop now, lest I go mad with revisions."
The two characters shown are Aretha Vanderslice and Courtney Aphex Twin, who is secret the other Aphex Twin.
Nonsense Mr Rowland, I am sure they are Hypatia Slag, and her sister Grunt.
Journal of lies: the first Amy was okay but she was drawn a bit too superdeformed for me to make all the cards like that. After I'd done a few, I knew I'd have to go back and fix her.
As for Jeff and Red Dog, you seem to be referring to characters from the foil stamped, hand painted 2nd edition cards, which will be inserted into boxes of Lucky Charms.
Rachel seems to be commanding me not to bluff when I only have an ace with a low kicker.
Shit, man, I've got to start buying me some more Lucky Charms.
Gotta catch 'em, gotta catch 'em all!
I once went all in with Paul Milford Len Pickering offsuit. I pulled off the inside straight with a Portuguese Man-o-war on the river.
Great! I wanted to do this myself, but when I was looking at the prices, they were quite absurd!
Sold one pack to me!
This might just be the incentive for me to start playing cards again (which I haven't done for years because I keep forgetting the rules to every game I've ever been taught).
Rachel is looking pretty feisty there. Who's she about to punch? My guess is the 2 of Diamonds. That's a pesky card and no mistake.
Here is a peppy feel-good message:
Rah, John Allison, Rah!
I wonder who will be on the joker cards.
My Mum says the Joker cards are evil and she always made me throw them in the bin, when I was a child. I always thought that wasn't very good way to deal with evil. Shouldn't we have had a ritual burning, or something? That would have been cool.
Now that I'm all growed up I still just throw the Jokers in the bin just because I don't know what the hell they're good for. Well, they're good for evil, obviously, but what games can you play with them?
All I can think of is "gimme, gimme, gimme" which might translate to "forgetting names is only the beginning of the dementia" which is probably just a vain attempt to offset the message of pep left by Terra V.
I want to say, clearly, deliberately, leaving no room for ambiguity, that I desire a deck of these cards right now . Is it the thought of having Rachel over Fallon on the flop? Or the art you posted? I choose not to inquire.
Yay! Rachel is back, and her nose looks normal!
(It's no secret: she's my fav-o-rite
I have no doubt these babies are going to eclipse even the tea-towel in popularity. The the bedspreads, the wallpapers, the lunchboxes... where does it end, John? Where does it end?
I like all of them!
We always just use the jokers as wild cards. 'Course we almost only ever play Mau but still.
Yay cards!
These look really nice. I am definitely picking up a set!
