Posters they couldn't hang

Another classic from my incredible reserve of uncommercial products.

Shelley has the Union Jack colours for England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and there is a Space Owl for Wales. Yes I know, I will take it out in the garden, bury it, and shoot the earth with grandpa's service revolver.

...so you've borrowed our colors for your flags, eh!

...you'll stay away from the stars if you know what's good for you!

This made me cry patriotic tears, which in Britain are made of piping hot tea and jam.

If you have these at SPX, I would buy one. For reals.

That adorable little Space Owl begging for food makes me realize I would buy a huggable Space Owl so hard.

I will buy one of those. No, that is not an empty promise. I am not like the others!

I'm not sure if you remember a while back, you posted the video to the comedy show "Radioface"? Well, the next episode has been released.

Also, it's definitely worth checking out the stand alone Doug Sklenki videos on youtube, they are literally the most imaginative comedy fake-vlog thing on the internet.

Here's three of his latest videos (they're not all like this, is is just a new format he's been playing with).

That would be excellent as a journal cover or on a messenger bag.

Also, I second the motion for a huggable Space Owl.

Love love the text.

Makes me feel all patriotic, without the overtones of shame for the football hooligans that normally follow.

It's the small last line that does it. That unflapable, unjustifiable confidence of the British Empire. But small, because it just wouldn't be done to be brash about it.

YAY for the space owl! I like this poster and would also buy it!

I'm often amazed at how Britain has become a symbol of things that would amaze Britons. Spanish punks wear British flag t-shirts, and not because they support empire or your futbol teams. Both American liberals and conservatives admire Britain (different aspects). The Japanese feel great affinity with the UK (tea fetish, former island empire, emotionally repressed, bad dentistry, etc). It helps that no one really thinks you're in control of the world anymore except for Iran and my local "LaRouchies" handing out pamphlets.

All goes to say, this is something people like for being ironic and deep down, because they want it to be true. I like it! Elegant, ironic and hopeful and funny.

The artwork has something of the Quentin Blake about it, which is no bad thing...

How very kind you all are. I will press this one into production.

Glenatron: I often spot a bit of Quentin Blake in there when I draw something. It is a nice compliment.

Gene: like the American railroad, Britishness has a faded glamour that can make it very appealing in the right light.

It just needs some love and Linus' blanket around it. Then it will sprout into a beautiful conifer tree.

You know, with your drawing talents and whimsical storytelling manner it suddenly occurs to me ( late to the party, no doubt ) that you could write an amazing illustrated children's book if you felt so inclined.

Or provide amazing illustrations to one already written, I suppose, if someone were to devise such a commission. It would play to your talents.

My inane vision of British identity is three partys "The Importance of being Earnest" and fifteen parts red mistin' Tim Jones!

Tupping Liberty!

I very much want one of these.
