Free Blakey My Fella

I have just finished reading Westsiders, William Shaw's compelling factual book about up-and-coming rappers in South Central LA in the late 90s. Well written, human and unsensational, I would recommend it to anyone.

Now mindful of the true state of things in this deprived, gang-ravaged environment, I have designed a new garment that reflects (hopefully with a modicum of sensitivity) the daily struggle to get by in places like Watts, Compton and Bellflower.

The use of comic sans is the piece de la resistance!

You are a naughty man.

Also, my Ahoy hoy and groovy unique postcard arrived yesterday. It is a thing of true beauty for which I give a thousand thanks.

I'm worried that people can't tell that this is a joke.

Surely people aren't that thick ... are they?

I'm afraid people are that stupid. I work in a library, a total circus of idiots. I can imagine people wearing something like that seriously.

I printed it out and taped it to an actual west philly thug. (so it's no joke, matt and eldpollard)

....then he went all murder on this piece

John, if you ever come to LA, I'll drive you through Compton if you like. And no, people wouldn't think that hoodie was a joke. My niece's ex-boyfriend would've paid top dollar for that black hoodie. It's got Mac-10's on it! That's _way_ cooler than the usual S&W 9mm you see on the sweatshirts around town... My niece's ex-boyfriend was a complete idiot. Still is, probably...

comic sans! oh dear!
This looks like something one would find at the Upper Playground (in SF, Fillmore and Haight Sts) for something like $50 each.
