It's over

I am conceding defeat and admitting that I have no more shirt ideas left. Last week Chris Hastings and I sat down to design tshirts, a lovely afternoon of brotherly brainstorming. After about my fifteenth idea, Chris said, "these ideas are all perfect things that no one would ever want to buy".

In case you don't believe me, here are three designs selected at random:

Acknowledging that the elephant in the room for the last week has been the law of diminishing returns, I have spent the afternoon rolling around on the floor wailing. But I am all right now. After all, this existential crisis has been going on for years.

I'm sure the comments on this cheerful post will be full of disproportionately huge monetary offers from the great media organisations so don't you worry about me. I will be fine.

ADDENDUM: Reader Noel Clark sent me an Applecat pumpkin to cheer me up, here viewed from two angles.

I would certainly purchase "Nature" as a gift for my sister; she is a field biologist (professional bird molestor, is what that really means) and I'm sure she would appreciate the handy reference tool.

John, I know that you laudably avoid making shirts that reference or recycle jokes from the comic ("Wales is Ok" aside), but I think the world would forgive you with remuneration if you wanted to turn the "Smiles & Dreams" boxing gloves Shelly poster into a shirt.

Make a 'Drink like a Brit!' t-shirt and I will buy five.

Capitalise on your lack of inspiration with a "I don't know how to design a shirt" motif. Or maybe "I've got shirt design down to a T".

I liked the nature t-shirt it was simultaneously informative and stylish - a combination you don't get at M&S these days.

Definitely the nature shirt. It's very topical and all with our children not knowing where milk comes from and stuff.

Haha, reminds me of 'Pilk'.

I fourth the nature shirt. It is very cute and delightful. I would purchase 2 in coordinating colours.

I also like the nature shirt! Its cute although I would again ask for a hoody? I'm assuming they didn't sell well? :( Wish I'd bought 2!

I like Nature and Shampoo (not to drink).

I am almost entirely dressed by SGR. I need new Ts. People are getting bored.
