Everybody's got one

Several requests in my inbox ask for Esther's eyebpatch skull shirt. Alas I can't just blow up the thing in the comic (and to think many of your favourite webcartoonists put tshirts in their comics to sell them!) so I have spent the last hour trying to make this work in a "look like you tried" way. Feel free to vote "yes" for success or "no" for the now traditional burying+shooting.

Please do not bury and shoot. I want to buy one!

Yes! I may not be over the moon about the particular color, but the design? The design makes me glad I just got a raise.

There's just no way to go wrong with a flaming, pirate skull t-shirt. A nice, dark red for the shirt itself would be in order. (Perhaps the red American Apparel names "cranberry?")

I want this. I want a skull shirt to wear!

Looks good to me.

Why is this not in the store yet? There's money crying out to be spent!

The design is fantastic!

...unfortunately it's not something I'd wear.

It must be made.

I will buy this, and wear it a lot.

I loves the colors, though I respect the previous commentor's opinion to dislike.

Do what you will comic man!

Honestly, I like the simpler (more comic-y) version that actually appears in the comic, sans flames, eyeball, and nose-hole. The bottom jaw I like okay.

Of course I think I'm also in the camp of that's something I probably wouldn't wear in any case. Unless the whole design was much smaller.

In a semi-related shirt topic, is there any chance of the "Death Has a Bunny" and "Bears Will Eat You" shirts being reprinted on American Apparel?

Generally, I'm in preference of something cuter. I'm a girly mess and I only like things that are either cute or disgustingly tacky. If the design could be tweaked a bit (maybe a few strategically placed hearts here and there, a smiley face, i'm not sure) and the colors more contrasting, it could be a huge hit with les femmes!

You could even option a 'his and hers' set, like charming bath towels! HIS: huge neon flames everywhere, a snake coming out of a rotting skull eye. HERS: happy skull face, exploding hearts, cute pirates!

All right, I will make it, the responses have been good enough. Good enough for this old carthorse of a man.

My next project after this is to do some extremely lavish letterpressed greetings cards. They have to sweat class and poo quality. I may be... some time.

Comments maybe too late for consideration but I agree with Beanbag Amerika and would prefer a simpler comic version. The eye, flames and especially the teeth make it more on the gruesome side of cute.

I'd still buy it though. But I'd expect my wife to "like" it rather than "adore" it as she does the one in the comic.

And her name is Esther so her opinion should matter dammit.

I take your point but the think in the comic is just a few lines, it has no substance! Doubt has entered my mind, I have decided to go out back and shoot it.

I agree with the printing of the pirate skull (as I requested it) but I also agree with the people who have said that the flames and nose holes and such make it a little less appealing. I like skulls which are cute!

All kidding aside, letterpress greeting cards are the bomb diggity. I snag some every year for sending out Christmas greetings (I know a guy who has access to all manner of old printing presses).

boo to cuteness! this shirt is perfect as it is! Unless, of course, you printed it on a pink bella shirt and added flower petals! And instead of a skull, a squirrel! Same basic concept, right?

I love the shirt AS IS.

I love the color, the flames, the rotten teeth, the shading. I hope you don't change a thing.

If you want something cute, buy Books Rule! I get so many compliments on that one it's almost silly.

But I DO like the idea of his and hers shirts. It's just... I want this one more than a skull with hearts. That sort of thing makes no sense, sorry Soda. But maybe his and hers goblins or devil bears or jellyfish... or something new?

I love the design but I'm not sure about the colour of the t-shirt, it suiting the design but not me.

I believe there's also a niche market for a "Sorry for eating all the jam" apology card. This link should set you right:
1. Meet their unique needs (guilty overcomsumption of jam)
2. Say the right thing ("Sorry! Hugs?")
3. Always test-market (follow random people home on the bus and observe each jam-eating faux pas using a magnifying glass for the scientific touch.)
