Easter Monday bonus: The Venerable Bede

We were taught about The Venerable Bede at school but due to the paucity of my history education (I do remember one good year under the genial Mr Doug Grant) I can't remember why we were taught about him. He did, supposedly, have a wife though. And he was always monkeying around with the position of Easter in the calendar. So, I give you, The Venerable Bede.

I think Bede wrote one of the first histories of Britain/England? Not being from Britain/England nor a student of the medieval period I couldn't be sure. Cool comic!

Cool! Like the accents - never occurred to me that Bede was a Geordie. But of course he was.

But I'm sorry, no way was Bede married. He was a career monk from childhood onwards.

Dammit, just double-checked this and found that Bede did indeed write a couple of passages that suggest he was married, although no-one is sure quite what to make of them. I am penitent and will never question the historical accuracy of Bad Machinery or its associated works again.
