New concepts

On the post where I mentioned my Esther mini-series, one innocent commenter said that perhaps I should do "something else afterwards". Well, I didn't really have any ideas beyond, you know, more of the same, so this lunchtime I sat myself down and created the forward-thinking, tomorrow minded comic plans that will take the Scary Go Round empire into a rosy future. Let me know what you think! The most popular one will debut on the site very soon*!

"Todd Feathers' Journey Into Joy"

Rotund, urbane bird Todd Feathers moves to the big city and discovers that there's almost no one he doesn't get along with!

"Wickid Charly And McGuffle"

Homely office worker Charly discovers that life has a little more "spice" when you team up with a cheerful bird-pig!

"The Agonies Of Patrice Lecourt"

Au pair and pessimist Patrice Lecourt discovers that it's not much of a life when you take a job as a eel farmer.

"Willy Barker's World Of Pain"

Cursed from birth with numerous issues, Willy Barker further muddies the existential waters by being quite repellent in every way.

"Tommy Radickle"

What won't Tommy Radickle do? He's the dude with 'tude who can be a bit rude but is essentially shrewd! Aimed at imaginary tweens.

YOU DECIDE!

* Never

Wickid Charly! I want to see more of the bird-pig....

Kind of.

Hmmm. Maybe it's creeping me out now....

Patrice Lecourt easily. This isn't even a contest.

Tommy Radickle all the way!! But in all seriousness John I'm quite enjoying Bad Machinery and would be heartbroken to see it go, even with the promise of Dark Esther antics.

Patrice!

What, no Baby Cool?

Antyhing but "Tommy Radickle".

In fact, I would gladly surrender my immortal soul in exchange for the promise that you won't ever consider developing "Tommy Radickle", that you will forget everything about him and actually burn that sketch and erase all the image files. I don't know if I can keep living under the impending threat of a "Tommy Radickle" comic.

You know, I was just going to get back to Bad Machinery in November. But Wood has made me think that TOMMY RADICKLE might just be the comic for the future.

I might compromise and make Tommy the main character in Bad Machinery, he is super cool and has a lot of 'tude!

Patrice LeCourt. YES. A thousand times yes. That sounds like the basis for the greatest childrens' book ever.

Tommy Radickle. And Patrice Lecourt. Together! They can be roommates and have antics.

There seems to be more comedy in tragedy, so I'm leaning towards Patrice LeCourt. Though Willy Barker might make a great vehicle to skewer Lars Von Trier.

TODD FEATHERS!!!!

The character Willie Barker was clearly plagiarized from my unpublished and unwritten autobiography. If you persist in developing said property any further I will have no choice but to hire and then contact my lawyers.

I think the essence of Willie Barker may have already been covered in some other forms, notably the written word: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Horrific-Sufferings-Reading-Hercules-Barefoot/dp/1843431513

If Tommy Radickle had exhibited only 96% or less 'tude I would have been unconvinced. But that 100%? That is convincing right there!

Patrice Lecourt absolument!

I eagerly look forward to the inevitable Tommy Radickle vs. Scott Pilgrim crossover.

My lunch times are joyous and beautiful M-Th with my Bad Machinery drug pills, but if I have to choose, I need to see more of Tommy Radickle's 'tude. I mean dang, I can tell that kid has a 'tude already by looking at him.

Wikid Charly, because you do such a magical job on stories with strange creatures!

But really... I'd read all of them in a heartbeat.

I think none of the contestants meet the common criteria. What 'common criteria'? Dunno... Maybe Patrice, living in a sinister lighthouse, will meet Desmond fishman who has some astonishing rumours regarding Eric the Green, the ecological ghost Viking pirate, having discovered the joys of Blackpool.

I absolutely love Patrice LeCourt. She looks like a fan of Lou Barlow's antics in Sebadoh's video for "Ocean".

I'm a luvin Todd Feathers and Willy Barker.

Mr. Feather! I predict his unconventional skating technique leads him to be adopted by Rob Dyrdek for a week before becoming disillusioned by Hollywood Glamour.
or something.

But I am so pleased to here that Bad Machinery will be back. For some reason I interpreted "take a break" as "never to return."
I blame television.
