Aubrey Beardsley's Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is a strange confection, I'm really not sure what point she is making at all. Visually she is fascinating but her music and her odd message about "little monsters" don't pack quite the same punch. I did enjoy myself drawing this though.

I drew it as a style exercise, trying to come up with some new print/teatowel ideas. Beardsley's line is fascinating, it is a very simple fixed width, often used consistently throughout the whole page. His use of black and white is so masterful, incredible balance of form and shade. A longtime favourite of mine! I love art nouveau.

Not ultimately sure if I will use this drawing, so let me know if you like it.

That would make a fine towel, I think. Though perhaps I have unusual tastes in Towels?

I enjoy Lady Gaga. For me though, I don't think having a genuine point or not is really the point. She reminds me rather a lot of what little I remember about the Dada movement.

Perhaps this would add context to this towel-based quandry?

Not ultimately sure about this one but I think a series of Allison Does Beardsley prints / products would be a very fine thing.

I don't care for Gaga myself, she feels very much like an attention grabber to me. However, I quite enjoy your image, the linework is lovely and the details are well put together

I like this one, even though it appears to be one of Gaga's least craziest outfits.
Due to her numerous guises, you should try a few more Beardsley/Gaga Mash-ups. I think there are more zany possibilities if you keep on it.

I absolutely love the picture - Beardsley style is fantastic - and I find Lady Gaga interesting, but I don't really like her enough to get it as a dish towel. I know a lot of people love her though, so I may be in the minority.

SUBMIT THIS TO THE NEW YORKER RIGHT NOW. Good god, man.

I find Lady Gagy a little bit infuriating. She seems to dress up and act strangely simply to disguise the fact that every single one of her songs is the same song.

That said, I agree with Colin: You should really be doing these little caricature for magazines. I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. People with far less talent are doodling Michael Douglas and getting paid for it as we speak.

Oh no. Lady Gagy? That was not an attempt at a bad pun, I swear it!

I'm pretty sure I have to buy this seeing as I love both Aubrey Beardsley and Lady Gaga.

Kyle, there are a lot of musicians who do one song over and over. So long as it's a good song it's not a problem. Lady Gaga's song was pretty good back when Gwen Stefani swiped it from Cindi Lauper!

Kinda reminds me of Edward Gorey's stuff, too.
