Rock, rock, roll, Plymouth Rock roll over

Ukes Not Nukes has been problematic to draw. the original sketch (in yesterday's post) was a red herring, as neither of the items involved are actually that shape, and hours of rearranging the real things produced nothing pleasing. But my many, many experiments to try and get it right did produce a hula cutie (left). Ain't she a darlin'? Swit-swoo!

If worse comes to worse: Ukes not Cukes? Or Ukes not Buicks? OK, the second one only works for some accents, but it gives you other shapes to work with.
On second thought, the hula cutie and the cuke doesn't quite... well... maybe for Jess Fink, but...

If you're looking for a good example of a Uke who's note a Nuke and is also Cute, I recommend checking out Molly (if you have not already): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mf7cQfhJSA

John, have you ever seen a nuke in person? How are you to say that there are no warheads that look like that? (I liked the ukes not nukes sketch)

I think this works for Ukes not Nukes! Maybe a mushroom cloud in the background? I would snap it up :)

Hula Cuties, not Nukes!

Loving the hula cutie. And from Wellington, NZ, home of the Wellington Ukelele Orchestra and the Pacific anti-nuclear movement, I can't wait till this shirt is ready!

Perhaps the hula girl could be sitting on a decommissioned nuclear missile, playing her whimsical ukulele tunes.

Dang. I loved your hula darlin'. I'd loved to have seen her on the shirt.
