I quite like drawing Janelle Monae. She's one of the most compelling performers of our age. No one can sing and dance like she can. Her album didn't quite win me over but I am certain that there are great things to come from Ms. Monae.

I approve. She is awesome.
I have her album and it's nice enough, but I have to agree that it comes in distinctly second to watching her perform. She's one of very very few people of whom I'd very much like to attend a performance all in-person-like.
I am proud/ashamed to say I immediately recognised Ms Monae form her appearance in Stargate Universe.

On the "experiment": Having a single-row comic made me automatically try to read the four smaller panels in vertical pairs.
Where the two-row structure you normally have makes the left-to-right then top-to-bottom flow obvious, with the smaller comic habit just kicked in, and it was a little jarring when I reached the last panel and realised the mistake.
Alan, you've gone mad. But don't worry, today and tomorrow's comics are just one comic that I brutally cleft in twain. So I'm probably madder than you.
